Installing the Multimedia Plugins

 We are pleased to be able to provide the Headspace® Beatnik version 1.1.7 and LiveUpdate Crescendo plugins for your use with this CD-ROM. You will need to install them in order to use the new multimedia recipes on this CD-ROM.

Of critical importance is selecting the correct plugin for your browser version and platform. We've developed the following table in the hope that you find it easier to decide which plugin is appropriate for you. (Macintosh users will want to know that the Crescendo plugin requires System 7.1 or greater, and QuickTime 2.1 or greater. For more details on how to install the Crescendo plugin, browse this link; we have been reliably informed that the plugin, although designed for use with Netscape Navigator, works with Internet Explorer as well, and just needs to be placed in the Internet Explorer folder.)

(*) The Beatnik version found on this CD-ROM is not certified for use with Internet Explorer, because, in the words of a Headspace® representative, "the Beatnik Plug-in is not completely supported by MS IE because of the IE lack of Javascript support. We are, however, releasing an Active X version for IE which will eliminate this problem." Before installing the Beatnik plugin, check The Headspace® website to see if the Active X version is ready.

The Crescendo plugin installers can be found in /PLUGINS/CRESCEND on the CD-ROM; the Beatnik plugins can be found in /PLUGINS/BEATNIK. To install a plugin, simply use Windows Explorer or File Manager (Win 3.1), or the Mac Finder, to locate the appropriate file on the CD-ROM and double-click its icon to start the installation.
